Mallorca Festival Park Shopping Review
An afternoon at the mall, lunch, leisure activities & retail therapy
On the MA-13 road, about 10 minutes out of Palma in Marratxi, you will come across a little slice of Americana in the form of the Festival Park complex. We were driving past the other day and decided to call in on a whim; and we were very pleased that we did.
Festival Park is a large complex with retail units, restaurants, leisure activities and it is set out very much like an outdoor, American mall. There are pleasant tree-lined streets to amble along where you can indulge your retail needs with a variety of shops. There are outlet stores with reductions all year long, the choice is varied and when we visited there were new units being developed to add further retail options.
My favourites were the Quiksilver shop, packed with Quiksilver, Roxy and DC Shoe bargains, and the Lindt shop, it helped that we were offered a free chocolate every time we went in. You can find many well-known names there, such as the Mango Outlet, Camper, Nike, Reebok, El Corte Ingles, Desigual with their wonderfully colourful clothing designs and there’s even an Orange mobile shop.
Along with all the retail options, there are a multitude of restaurants and bars offering virtually every cuisine imaginable. We plumped for the American Grill, which has a TGI Friday feel about it. I opted for the vegetarian fajitas whilst Jamie-Lee went for chicken strips and wedges. All around us the diners seemed to be enjoying their meals, especially those who had opted for one of the many burgers on the menu; they were enormous and looked very tasty. We finished our meal with a brownie which was delicious, gooey, warm and very chocolatey. There are so many food establishments to choose from, pizza places, steak houses, Chinese, Mediterranean and there is a MacDonald’s to keep children happy.
The whole park is very much geared towards families and keeping all age groups entertained. There is a charming merry-go-round for the little ones along with an outdoor play area with slides and swings, a second outdoor area with trampolines and a huge indoor soft-play area called Monkey Park. They host birthday parties at Monkey Park and it is a great place to bring children for a bit of respite from the strong sun or maybe on one of those rare rainy days.
For all the family there is a cinema and for those who fancy themselves as an up and coming race car driver, you can try your hand at the indoor XtremKart circuit.
The location of Festival Park makes it hugely accessible and there is ample, free parking. No doubt that shoppers have a lot of choice on the island, the beautiful streets of Palma that offer everything from H&M to haute couture, but if it’s a family day out that you are after, then I think you should try Festival Park, there is something for everyone there.
